Palm-friendly Size

The trend of larger and larger displays seems to be leveling off, but even in the current situation, most phones are too big to operate easily with one hand. That’s why when we occasionally come across a powerful compact phone, we always prefer it. This time, the Doogee S41 Pro is here, content with a compact design that’s 5.5 inches in size. Your entire digital life is now in one coin pocket. Perfect for taking a break from your big phone.

The Doogee S41 Pro is both a budget and pocket-friendly rugged smartphone. It fits easily in your pocket because of its low price and small size. Its MIL-STD rating and IP68 rating make it one of the best-rugged smartphones. Users can use it to their heart’s content without worrying about dropping the phone, dust, or liquid damage. In addition, its long-lasting battery makes it the best-rugged smartphone option for small businesses.

6300mAh Long-lasting Battery

As advertised, the S41 Pro with its large 6300mAh battery delivers uninterrupted performance, freeing you from power anxiety! It supports 24 days of standby, 3 days of normal use, and even 1 day plus calls. So, perfect for long trips in the wilderness, you can also use reverse charging to charge other devices on the S41 Pro.

In practical experience, we found that the 6300mAh non-removable Li-ion battery can allow 2 days of moderate use, such as surfing the Internet, Google, YouTube, following social media, and of course less time when playing games or using 4G, but a single charge can keep you company all day, and it usually takes about 3 hours to fully charge the 6300mAh using Type-C.

5.5″IPS HD+ Strong Display

In the 18:9 ratio, 1440*720 resolution, 1200:1 contrast ratio of the 5.5-inch LCD screen, clear information or text, colorful pictures, and vivid dynamic videos are all in your eyes. The screen is soft and does not hurt the eyes. Unlike CRT technology, LCD screen does not flicker, which can reduce the damage of the display to the eyes and make the eyes less fatigued.

Besides, equipped with corning gorilla glass, which is designed to withstand drops of up to 1.6 meters on hard and rough surfaces. This thin glass is thin by design but offers higher damage resistance than previous versions. Corning claims it is four times stronger than conventional glass designs.

Performance

With MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core chip with Arm Cortex A53 CPU and IMG-GE8300 GPU at up to 900MHz, the brains of the triple-HD phone unleash a lot of power and perform with satisfactory performance and efficiency. A memory pack consisting of 4GB RAM (up to 3GB extended RAM) and 32GB ROM will meet your basic needs; storage can also be expanded up to 1TB using a T-Flash card.

Ruggedness Design

The Doogee S41 Pro is dust and water-resistant to IP68 and IP69K ratings. In addition, the device is MIL-STD-810H certified, allowing it to operate flawlessly in a variety of extreme weather conditions.

IP68 and IP69K mean that the S41 Pro is resistant to water spray, even deep water immersion, and dust, while MIL-STD-810H certifies that this rugged phone can withstand a 1.8 meters drop to the ground, making the DOOGEE S41 Pro incredibly rugged.

Conclusion

Oukitel seems to have a specific audience for its line of rugged phones. These people want a device that feels modern but can withstand extreme conditions.

The Doogee S41 Pro may aim to offer a unique-looking phone to the audience. The Palm-friendly Size is an important step in making rugged phones stand out in a world where cool-looking foldable phones are slowly taking over.

Oukitel WP21 Review: Ultimate Flagship With Premium 6nm Chipset and 20MP Night Vision Camera

Oukitel has announced the launch of its WP21 smartphone, which among other things is a rugged phone that won’t leave you with a low battery. This well-made smartphone packs a 9,800mAh power unit inside and it runs on a 4G chipset – the 6nm MediaTek Helio G99. It comes with 66W charging support for charging large battery. The Oukitel WP21 not only continues this tradition with a high-capacity battery capable of fast charging but also introduces a unique look to the series. The dual-screen setup allows the phone to simulate having a watch on the back.

Are you interested in a rugged smartphone with a dual screen? The purpose of this article is to present a detailed Oukitel WP21 review to understand the various specifications and qualities of a true professional. This may be what you like, so let’s get to know it thoroughly.

Full specifications of the Oukitel WP21

  • RAM: 12GB
  • ROM: 256GB
  • Weight: Approx. 398g
  • OS: Android 12
  • Power: 9800mAh(66W Fast charging)
  • Screen: 6.78″ (2460×1080)
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G99 (MT6789,6nm chips)
  • Front Camera: 16MP
  • Rear Camera: 64MP+20MP(Night Vision Camera)+2MP Triple Rear Camera
  • Certification: P68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H
  • Dimensions: 177.3mm*84.3mm*14.8mm

Massive Battery & Ultra Fast Charging

The huge battery immediately gets your attention. Oukitel says it can stand by for 115 hours or watch videos effectively for 12 hours on a single charge. By comparison, in our own battery tests, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra’s 5,000 mAh capacity lasted for more than 13 hours of normal use and about 7 hours of video streaming. Using Type-C and 66W Quick Charge it basically takes 2 hours to fill up the 9800mAh, which is very fast and I can say the battery is very good compared to anything else on a rugged phone.

In addition, WP21 also supports recharge battery-powered electronics when you are on the go, which can come in handy when your smartphone, smartwatch, TWS Earphones, and other Switch devices are running low on power, allowing you to use it as a rechargeable battery at any time.

64MP Triple Cameras

The phone also comes with a triple camera setup, including

  • 64MP primary camera with Sony IMX686 sensor
  • 20 MP night vision camera with Sony IMX350 sensor
  • 2 MP macro camera
  • 16 MP front-facing selfie camera

The IMX686 sensor supports pixel merging, so we can expect sharper photos with it. It’s also capable of recording 4K video at 60 FPS, although that’s not specified on the WP21’s spec sheet.

It’s worth noting that the WP21 comes with a dedicated night vision camera. While this is not the first smartphone to come with night vision, it is impressive that Oukitel has equipped this phone with a dedicated handset.

Dual Screen Design

The Oukitel WP21 is equipped with dual screens. Its main display is a 6.78-inch panel with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The second display, located on its back, is a small, always-on screen that displays important information such as the time of day, notifications, music controls, and more. It also doubles as a camera viewfinder, allowing you to take selfies with the rear camera.

120HZ Refresh Rate Display

The WP21 marks the entry of Oukitel’s flagship range into the high-screen refresh rate cell phone segment in India. The smartphones come with 120Hz refresh rate displays. They come with a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel and MediaTek Helio G99 under the hood. Add to that a whopping 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage.

It’s not just gaming phones, even mainstream smartphones today are flaunting high screen refresh rates that are thought to provide butter-smooth scrolling, animations, and transitions. The list of phones with 120Hz displays is growing and will increasingly appear in the next generation.

Ruggedness Design

The Oukitel WP21 is dust and water-resistant to IP68 and IP69K ratings. In addition, the device is MIL-STD-810H certified, allowing it to operate flawlessly in a variety of extreme weather conditions.

The IP69K rating means it is fully dust and water-resistant when submerged in 5 feet of water, and the addition of IP69K proves it can also withstand high-pressure water flow. Oukitel also lists it as drop-proof, claiming that accidental drops from heights of up to 1.5 m (~5 ft) will not damage the device.

Conclusion

Oukitel seems to have a specific audience for its line of rugged phones. These people want a device that feels modern but can withstand extreme conditions.

The WP21 may aim to offer a unique-looking phone to the audience. The dual-screen setup is an important step in making rugged phones stand out in a world where cool-looking (but not so rugged) foldable phones are slowly taking over.

Unihertz Tank Review: 22000mAh Battery Monster Rugged Phone with 108MP Main and 20MP IR Night Vision Cameras

Unihertz continues to focus on providing efficient and durable cell phones for professionals and active outdoor users. The company’s latest phone is the Unihertz Tank – a rugged phone with military-grade protection, a bright flashlight, a large battery, and even an infrared night vision camera. As usual, Unihertz seeks balance and offers an affordable package, but the Unihertz Tank also pushes the limits with the MediaTek Helio G99 (MT6789) processor.

Are you interested in a rugged smartphone with Massive Battery life? The purpose of this article is to present a detailed Unihertz Tank review to understand the various specifications and qualities of a true professional. This may be what you like, so let’s get to know it thoroughly.

Full specifications of the Unihertz Tank

  • RAM: 8GB
  • ROM: 256GB
  • Weight: Approx. 560g
  • OS: Android 12
  • Power: 22000mAh(66W Fast charging)
  • Screen: 6.81″ (2408×1080)
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G99 (MT6789)
  • Front Camera: 32MP
  • Rear Camera: 108MP+20MP(Night Vision Camera)+2MP Triple Rear Camera
  • Certification: P68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H
  • Dimensions: 175.6×85.3×23.9 mm

Long-Lasting Battery Life

The Unihertz Tank has one of the largest built-in non-removable Li-Polymer batteries at 22,000mAh, which is by far the largest battery I’ve ever seen, allowing for 7 days of moderate use such as surfing the web, Google, YouTube and following social media, and of course, less time playing games, but one charge will stay with you for 4 full days using Type-C and 66W Fast charging basically takes 4 hours to fully charge the 22000mAh, very fast and I can say the battery is very good compared to anything else on a rugged phone.

In addition, Tank supports reverse charging, which can come in handy when your smartphone, smartwatch, headphones and other devices are running low on power, allowing you to use it as a rechargeable battery at any time.

Insurmountable Experience

The 22,000mAh battery is the really attractive feature of the Unihertz Tank. This is likely the Shocking behind the phone’s gargantuan size, and what sets it apart from pretty much any other rugged phone in this price range. Playing games and streaming video content, even for hours on end, will barely put a dent in this thing’s battery life. Leaving it idle, even for days on end, will only take off a few measly percentage points. On top of all of that, it recharges incredibly quickly which reaches 66W and few rugged phones could compare with its fast charging.

See in the Dark with Night-Vision

Switch to night vision on the Tank camera and the IR LEDs on the back light up the night. You can take black and white photos in total darkness – it’s insane. In practice, the quality of these photos isn’t great-focusing in the dark is incidental, shutter speeds are slow, and the results are predictable. Nonetheless, they are interesting.

While taking photos in total darkness is novel, the real killer use case for this feature, at least from a wildlife enthusiast’s perspective, is to see in total darkness without using a flashlight or other light source. For example, if you’re hiding before first light, you can find your way around without using light that might scare off wildlife. Or say you’re in place to watch some nocturnal wildlife and need to find something in your pack – just turn on your night vision and rummage around – no flashlight needed.

Android 12-The Most Personal OS for Adventurers

Speaking of software, Tank runs an operating system based on Android 12. The software is fast, intuitive and really feels like the original Android. On the Tank, you can also enjoy all Google services through the pre-installed Google apps. In addition to Google apps, there’s an Outdoor Toolkit on the P10 that includes 12 apps designed for adventure or field work, such as a lead hammer, sound level meter, barometer, and more. This list will provide you with at least one or two useful tools. Surprisingly, the phone also retains FM radio capability. All you need to do is plug in your headphones as an antenna.

Performance

High performance is not a top priority for rugged phones due to their fast power consumption, so the Tank uses the MTK G99 platform, an effective chipset to ensure a good balance of adequate performance and good battery life. While it couldn’t match the results of regular phones in the benchmarks we ran, the Tank still showed good flexibility in terms of software experience. In our limited experience, there was no noticeable lag or crashes. And if you want to play lighter games on the Tank, the gaming experience is not bad at all. In games like PUBG mobile, the phone can run consistently at smooth frame rates on medium graphics settings.

Conclusion

This time, Unihertz brings a new rugged smartphone with many high-end specifications. As a rugged phone, the Unihertz Tank far exceeded our expectations. In addition to being rugged, this phone often surprised us with other features without notice. This is definitely the most interesting rugged phone we’ve reviewed this year.

It’s unbelievable that the battery is still more than half full while using Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and Twitter. In our limited experience, we were impressed with its excellent balance of ruggedness and practicality.

By far, the Unihertz Tank’s camera system is the best of any rugged phone we’ve experienced. Surprisingly, it comes with a 108MP primary camera, another 20MP IR camera for night vision and a 2MP macro sensor, which sounds even better than some regular phones.

Ulefone Armor 17 Pro Review: With Pro-Grade Cameras comes great financial responsibility

Most of today’s rugged smartphones look really “rugged” and are as bulky as a rock. The truth is that while many consumers rely on these phones for heavy work, they still want them to be smaller and lighter. So, is there a rugged phone that looks good for everyday use? The answer is yes.

Thankfully, with the introduction of Ulefone’s best ever “Armor 17 Pro,” three of the biggest questions when choosing a phone have been addressed. Protection, performance, and style. The new flagship Armor 17 Pro packs rugged reliability and incredibly powerful performance into a slim, lightweight enclosure.

  • OS: Android 12
  • Power: 5380mAh
  • Support for microSD cards: up to 2TB

Sophisticated Design

The latest Ulefone flagship features a beautifully refined commercial design. For a phone with a 6.58-inch display, the Armor 17 Pro is slim, sleek, and lightweight at just 290 grams. That’s well below the industry average of 400g. Its matte black color gives it an elegant and calming feel.

As far as durability is concerned, the Armor 17 Pro is an absolute monster! It has IP68 and IP69K water and dust ratings, as well as MIL-STD-810G standards for shock, drop, and extreme temperatures. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 has also been added for even better protection.

Drop-proof: It can withstand drops of up to 1.5 m onto concrete.
Dustproof: All ports and small holes are well protected against dust and dirt.
Waterproof: It is easy to clean and can be submerged in water for up to 1.5 m for 30 minutes.

108MP Triple Cameras

The Armor 17 Pro’s camera module consists of three cameras, the main camera is a 108MP HM2 and the other two are an 8MP ultra wide-angle camera and a night vision camera. The HM2 is a very good sensor and will give you a very nice picture most of the time. The most surprising thing is that it has autofocus face detection. Even today, many phones don’t have this feature.

The 8MP ultra wide-angle camera is not as good as the main camera, but considering some rugged phones don’t even have an ultra wide-angle camera, it’s still nice to have this on the 17 Pro.

The upgraded 8MP IR night vision camera with two IR LEDs allows users to easily navigate targets in unlit areas for professional use.

120HZ DISPLAY

The Armor 17 Pro’s screen is a 120Hz FHD+ LCD screen with 5th generation Corning Gorilla Glass protection. 120Hz screens are rare in rugged phones. With a 240Hz touch sampling rate, it’s already much better than most rugged phones. If you want it to be smooth and power efficient, you can also choose 90Hz.

The 6.58-inch LCD with FHD+ resolution is bright and colorful for an immersive viewing experience. Thanks to the 120 Hz refresh rate, the screen can be refreshed 120 times per second for ultra-smooth scrolling, twice as fast as a regular 60 Hz screen. The 240 Hz touch sampling rate further provides a fast response time for your gaming needs. If you demand display quality, this should be the best of the rugged phones.

Superfast Charge

The Armor 17 Pro supports 66w of wired charging and 15w of wireless charging, and the wired charging power is the fastest of any triple-HD phone we’ve tested. 38% in 10 minutes and 90% in 30 minutes.

This free charger is really great, not only is it a Type C port, but it supports all charging protocols, so almost any device can be charged quickly with it. Normally a charger like this would cost you extra money to buy, uleFone gave it to us for free, what a surprise.

Performance

The Helio G99 is the new chipset in MediaTek’s Helio G series, featuring an advanced 6nm production process and gaming performance. Inside the Helio G99, we have an octa-core CPU using 2x Cortex-A76 2.2GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 2.0GHz architecture for fast data processing and a powerful ARM Mali-G57 GPU running at up to 1GHz for superior 3D graphics.

Virtual Memory Expansion: Armor 17 Pro offers up to 13GB of RAM to support running multiple applications simultaneously without lag. Total 8GB of RAM + 5GB of virtual RAM. Virtual memory expansion can be turned on or off in Settings.

Conclusion

This time, Ulefone brings a new rugged smartphone with many high-end specifications. The Armor 17 Pro is a no-compromise choice that covers every angle. With well-thought-out design, performance, photography, and professional features. It looks like a regular triple-rugged phone with no fancy design. But it has MagSafe, it has a magnetic wallet, it has a 66w charging speed, and it has a 120Hz screen, all of which are its unique benefits.

Design, Materials, and Build Quality

The design of the Cubot KingKong 7 is very much in line with the purpose of the smartphone, and the manufacturer did not try to make it look more …… civilized. Although the smartphone did not receive any brightly colored inserts, its design, traditionally designed for this class, is aggressive and savage, with sharp lines, angular shapes, and a variety of textures and materials.

The material of the housing is not directly specified by the manufacturer, but there are no secrets there. The glass is in the front and the housing itself appears to be plastic, but from the outside, it is completely covered with some kind of rubber material. At the edges, there are rectangular matte metal inserts. All structural elements fit perfectly and there are no squeaks.

Despite all the practical design, the smartphone’s position resembles that of a “normal” device. For example, the front-facing camera is embedded in the upper left corner of the screen, a solution that is already used in many places. The bezel around the screen is relatively wide, but not bad for a protected smartphone.

64MP Triple Cameras

Cubot KingKong 7 has three modules in its mainframe, each of which can shoot. There are no unnecessary auxiliary modules, and the existing set of cameras is similar to the Cubot X50 smartphone: a 64-megapixel wide-angle module (f / 1.9), a super wide-angle module with a resolution of 16 megapixels (f / 2.4) and a 5-megapixel macro module (f / 2.2).

The photos look normal in daylight with natural colors, but the smartphone still does not work properly under underexposure. Even in good lighting conditions, photos look dark and overexposure in bright areas is not uncommon. Despite the existence of a separate night mode, you shouldn’t really want to shoot at night either.

The macro module is interesting in that it comes with a sophisticated autofocus feature that can be used to shoot even at very close distances. But the resolution is still very low and requires a lot of light so that the photos don’t become blurry. There is nothing special in terms of quality.

Display

The Cubot KingKong 7’s 6.36-inch IPS display has a resolution of 2,300 x 1,080 pixels, which corresponds to a pixel density of nearly 400 pixels per inch. You won’t be able to perceive individual pixels anymore. The competition only uses HD panels in outdoor smartphones at this price point; the Doogee S96 Pro is a clear example.

The screen quality is quite good. The resolution is more than adequate, and all text and small icons look sharp on the screen. Colors are relatively saturated and contrasting but without unnecessary embellishments. I mean, as far as color reproduction is concerned, in general, there are no problems, but it is impossible to adjust. More important for a rugged smartphone is the maximum brightness and viewing angle.

Software & Connectivity

The Cubot KingKong 7 comes with Google’s latest operating system, Android 11. While two or three security updates are available, the likelihood of an update to Android 12 is extremely slim.

In terms of connectivity, Cubot is also on the red line. In fact, the current wireless standards are still uncertain, 2G / 3G / 4G, including parallel support for LTE bands on two SIM cards 20. Cubot KingKong 7 supports dual-band WiFi 4 and also only supports Bluetooth 4.2 – the standard of 2014. Of course, you can use both without any problems, but we would now prefer to see the current standard in a cheap smartphone. At least there is NFC for Google Pay and GPS.

Performance

Cubot KingKong 7 comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable memory. The processor is an old friend: the MediaTek Helix P60. The platform is built on 12-nm process technology and has eight cores, which are divided into two clusters: four Cortex-A53 cores running at a maximum clock speed of 2.0 GHz, and four other cores are Cortex-A73, but with the same clock speed up to 2.0 GHz. The triple-core Mali-G72 MP3 acts as a graphics gas pedal.

For everyday tasks such as instant messaging, social media and photos, that performance is easily satisfied. However, the choice of processor is not particularly future-proof. In addition, there will be no custom ROM.

Conclusion

The main advantages of the Cubot KingKong 7 are IP68/IP69K protection and a relatively low price tag, which makes the smartphone an attractive option for users who need such a device. It has a decent display, good performance levels, enough memory, and excellent battery life.

At the same time, the King Kong 7 is not the most rugged device. The stated standard of protection involves dust and moisture resistance, but the manufacturer is silent on shock resistance. Without its ruggedness, it is a simple budget Cubot smartphone with its own pros and cons.

Quick Glance of Ulefone Power Armor X11 Pro

  • RAM: 4GB
  • ROM: 64GB
  • Weight: Approx. 330g
  • OS: Android 12
  • Power: 8150mAh with OTG reverse charging
  • Screen: 5.45″HD+ (1440×720) with LCD panel
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G25
  • Front Camera: 5MP
  • Rear Camera: AI DUAL 16MP
  • Samsung S5K2P7 Sensor
  • Certification: P68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H
  • Dimensions: 158.2 x 76.7 x 19.3mm

Size and Display

The Ulefone Power Armor X11 Pro is designed to be a rugged smartphone with a rugged look, as Ulefone has made us accustomed to, with a premium synthetic rubber layer on the front and back, a length of 158.2mm and a width of 76.7mm, with a sturdy frame and rubber pads to absorb impact, and despite the weight of 330g The large thickness of 19.3mm creates a wonderful feeling when held in the hand, yes it is heavy but it is acceptable in a durable phone and I hope it performs well too. If you ask me about build quality, there’s nothing to complain about, and it’s affordable.

The just-right phone form factor paired with a full-screen 18:9 HD+ (1440 x 720) resolution display is rich in detail, with clear text, crisp images, and vivid, smooth video. Watch movies, view messages, or browse content, and you can be fully immersed in whatever you’re doing.

Camera

One of the highlights of the Ulefone Armor X11 Pro is the dual AI cameras. As far as their specs go, there’s nothing to worry about, but the hard truth is in the actual performance. On the back is a dual-camera setup with dual 16MP primary cameras and a Samsung S5K2P7 sensor, 1.0µm, 6-chip lens, FOV 77°, and ƒ/1.8 large aperture.

Capture every adrenaline-pumping moment with the dual rear cameras. The 16MP main camera powered by Samsung image sensors enables instant autofocus to capture exciting action, while the depth sensor 6 creates stunning bokeh effects in photos to upgrade your photography game. Combined with great low-light performance and light AI enhancements7, this phone takes high-quality photos and videos day or night.

Battery

The largest battery ever built into a rugged, compact smartphone. The Power Armor X11 Pro brings a rare combination of compact size and long battery life to the industry. The larger 8150mAh battery keeps the phone running longer and provides up to 4 days of uptime on a single charge. Its 5W OTG reverse charging can sometimes be a lifesaver, charging another phone, watch or earbuds.

For the average user, the battery can easily last a full day, depending on your usage, such as how many times you turn on the screen and the type of apps you’re running, but also enough to watch more than 12 hours of continuous video. However, it performs well, mainly because it comes with stock Android 12 and doesn’t have many pre-installed programs, even though the interface is simple and doesn’t have any complicated background processes, which is what limits battery consumption.

Performance

The MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core chip strikes a good balance between performance and power efficiency with a 2.0GHz high-frequency Arm Cortex-A53 CPU and 520MHz IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage4 for most usage scenarios of the phone, and also supports 128GB microSD card5 for more possibilities.

Playing games and streaming video content, even for hours on end, will barely put a dent in this thing’s battery life. Leaving it idle, even for days on end, will only take off a few measly percentage points. On top of all of that, it recharges incredibly quickly and can be charged wirelessly.

Conclusion

The Power Armor 11 Pro is a practical phone that does exactly what it needs to do at a competitive price. The long-lasting battery life is matched only by the lifespan of the device itself, which is virtually indestructible in the palm of your hand. If affordability and reliability are your priorities for a smartphone, then Ulefone has the perfect rugged phone for you.

Doogee S96 GT review: An Indestructible Smartphone with Wireless Charging, NIGHT Cameras, and More!

Doogee has just revived one of the most iconic and rugged phones in its catalog. The Doogee S96 Pro, the first smartphone with a night vision camera, brings a new “GT” version with a lot of news and improvements. Of course, it retains the essence of the S96 Pro, with its rugged design and very useful adventure features. Plus, it’s just as affordable.

Are you interested in a rugged smartphone with night vision? The purpose of this article is to present a detailed Doogee S96 GT review to understand the various specifications and qualities of a true professional. This may be what you like, so let’s get to know it thoroughly.

Quick Glance of Doogee S96 GT

  • RAM: 8GB LPDDR4X
  • ROM: 256GB in UFS format
  • Weight: Approx. 310g
  • OS: Android 12
  • Power: 6350mAh with fast charge 24W
  • Screen: 6.22″HD+ (1520×720) with LCD panel
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G95
  • Front Camera: 32MP
  • Rear Camera: 48MP SONY® IMX582 Sensor chip
  • SONY® IMX350 20MP Night vision camera
  • Certification: P68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H
  • Dimensions: 167 x 81.4 x 15.5mm

Durability

You can tell that the Doogee S96 GT is a rugged and durable smartphone. It has a back cover on all edges and on the camera module, which is made of two materials: metal for reinforcing the camera and the sides, and rubber-textured plastic that provides a very soft grip and protects the corners from drops. More than 50% of the phone is made of metal, which makes it heavy (310 grams), but very durable.

Either way, it doesn’t feel heavy in our hands at all thanks to its ergonomic design and pleasant rubbery texture. In addition, it has a hole. At the bottom, you can attach a pendant to carry it more securely. On an aesthetic level, we also like it a lot. We tested the “Classic Gold Black” variant, which combines the gold of metal with the black of plastic, and despite being a big and sturdy phone, it looks very elegant.

The Doogee S96 GT is certified for MIL-STD-810H, IP68, and IP69K, which in short ensures that it can withstand all kinds of violent drops, rolls, and twists as well as dust and immersion in water (up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes).

Camera

The Doogee S96 GT still has a spectacular night vision camera. In its rear camera quad-sensor arrangement, it features a 20MP sensor that can see in the dark. Compared to its predecessor, this sensor brings a new and improved ability to capture any object within a range of 15 meters. The rest of its sensors are a 48 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultra wide-angle sensor, and a 2 MP depth sensor.

Similarly, the phone’s selfie camera has been increased from 16 MP to 32 MP. double the resolution! It is expected to record video calls and take spectacular selfies with better quality.

Battery

The Doogee S96 GT is equipped with a 6350 mAh battery that can play 11.5 hours of video autonomously, without leaving you behind on the go, and gives you up to 2 days of autonomy. However, if you are one of those who use your phone a lot, the charge will last only 1 day. The upside is that you only need to charge it once a day or every two days.

How long does it take to charge? With 24W fast wired charging, it can be 50% full in 1 hour. With 15W wireless charging, it takes longer. Yes, it’s not the fastest-charging phone. The good side is that it has OTG, so you can use it as a mobile power to charge other devices.

Screen

As for the screen, it’s not the best on the market, but it’s acceptable. It uses a 6.22-inch LCD panel with 720p resolution (1520 x 720 pixels) and a standard 60 Hz refresh rate. It looks pretty good even in broad daylight, as it has a pixel density of 270 PPI and a high brightness of 480 nits. However, it doesn’t match the quality (especially when viewing multimedia content and scrolling through the interface) of the Full HD+ screens of other phones in this range at 90 Hz.

On the other hand, this panel is protected by Gorilla Glass, and the entire body of the phone is IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810 certified. Protection against dust, dirt, water, shocks, and even temperature changes. This means it can resist everything and is ideal for the most adventurous people.

Performance

MediaTek’s Helio G95 is the chip that powers the Doogee S96 GT with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It has enough memory for multitasking and enough power to give you a smooth experience in everyday use. Whether it’s social networking apps (WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.) or gaming (as long as you use low graphics settings). It also brings enough space to save photos and videos and install all the apps you want. If that’s not enough, you can expand it up to 512 GB using a micro SD.

The hardware is certainly not the best ever, but it must be said that Doogee makes a good choice compared to other competitors in this area; the datasheet makes it a good performer in almost all usage scenarios, but not with software optimization as an example.

Conclusion

Doogee S96 GT has a very good and balanced character in all parts. Its weak point is the screen, as it is not Full HD +, but its quality is still very good. It has a spectacular quad rear camera with night vision, a decent processor and a lot of RAM, and a huge battery with wireless charging support. Plus, it’s super rugged and comes with lots of useful extras like NFC, an FM radio, a side fingerprint reader, customizable buttons, and a set of software tools to help you work outdoors.
